Law firm surveys number of people affected by Babboe's breaking cargo bikes

Owners of Babboe cargo bikes have been in uncertainty since last week. After years of complaints about breaking frames, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has ordered Babboe to stop selling cargo bikes.

Certain types of cargo bikes even have to be recalled by the manufacturer, because they do not comply with the law. After reports of frame breakages, Babboe did too little research into their causes and failed to inform the NVWA.

For many families, the Babboe cargo bike is an essential means of transport. Children ride in it daily to school and to sports clubs. The uncertainty about the safety of the bikes now hangs over these families like a sword of Damocles.

The NVWA speaks of a serious safety risk with potentially serious harm as a consequence.

Law firm Birkway is surveying how many people are affected and what it could mean for the families concerned.

Babboe owners can register from today at bakfietsclaim.nl.

Registering does not oblige you to anything. At this stage, only the scale of the problem is being mapped.

Birkway assists numerous affected parties who suffer damage. For example, damage caused by the purchase of an emissions-cheating diesel, a usurious insurance policy or incorrect information about shares. Or, as in this case, a defective cargo bike.

It does not matter whether the Babboe cargo bike was bought new or second-hand, nor whether a cargo bike is being recalled or not. Every Babboe cargo bike counts!
